WHAT IS THE NEW BLACK?
To be honest with you guys, my style dictionary never used to include ‘casual’ rather I had ”EDGY” AND ”EXTRA”.
I thought it was BORING! but putting this look together convinced me that CASUAL can be COOL, EDGY AND FASHIONABLE.
Even though I wasn’t the type to consider something simple; these days I have no choice. Nigerian is very HOT now, so what I wouldn’t want to do is go overboard all in the name of being a trend-setter
In fact, just putting on makeup is a challenge as it is either you are fighting sweat or rashes on your face!.
I said to myself ”Idayat you have to make casual work” which led to challenging myself on how to dress in a casual but fashionable way, I WON THE CHALLENGE by changing ONE thing!
The change I made was to my mindset; I started perceiving casual as a thing of “uniqueness”
In Fashion, to be unique means doing things differently but still your own way. If your style is maxi gowns but with a hint of edginess, then that should be the definition of casual in your dictionary.
For me, it is sporty, edgy and oversized which shows in the accessories paired with this outfit.
Accessories like edgy glasses, matching the white bag to the trousers and unique slides change the outfit. The outfit which should be boring is now interesting.
I have a different blog post on the kind of basics needed to for a simple look here. And also related styling posts on how to style your casual items here and here. Check out the links for more inspiration.
