I promised I will review some of the brands on the list so here is the review. keep reading for all the tips you should know before you order from Fashpa, how you can get discounts everytime you want to order and details about the refund policy.
NOTE: I just realized last night that all the clothes from the Melbyfashpa line seems to be sold out, i will contact them on when they will restock. Meanwhile, you can follow me on instagram to be updated and also see how i style the other items i got from them.
I think the biggest achievement for the fashion industry in Nigeria will be the means to get all the products we need from NIGERIA BRANDS. This extends to clothes, shoes, bags and even makeup. However, the never-ending complaint about Nigerian brands is THE QUALITY.
I have published posts like affordable Nigerian brands HERE to increase awareness and visibility; for the few doing their BITS especially when it comes to fashion. Including talking about brands with unique abayas HERE, So I thought why not review the qualities of the clothes.
This will not only give way for you all to having an idea about the quality of the products but also reduce the chances of listing brands that are just good on displays or photo shoot.
What brands will you like me to review? leave the name in the comment section below.
So, I described the brand – Fashpa as an “An affordable clothing brand that mixes traditional fabrics with modern fabrics. Like linen and cotton in a fascinating way”. Well, keep reading to know whether they meet up to the expectations:
The clothes review will be about the size guide, actual fit, clothes quality, originality and decision on if I will ever purchase from the brand again.
Let’s start with the SIZE GUIDE
1. The size guide: Are Fashpa clothes really true to size? YES, they are! The sizes are divided into two, normal and loose fit. However, I made the mistake of actually not staying true to size for the first cloth I bought. As I chose from the loose fit size, I thought to size up will make it freer. BUT instead, I ended up with my mummy dash me kinda fit.
Nonetheless, I was ready for the second round using the size guide and it worked. I make sure to pick Medium under the loose size section and Large under the normal size section. Please, bear in mind that I am a UK size 12 or 14.
The clothes needed no adjustment even for my sister. She is a Plus Size lady that uses UK 18/20 on a regular, but still went for XL under the loose fit and was perfect. Thus, stay true to the size guide as it is actually a true one.
2. The fit: Although the clothes were a perfect size; the medium itself under the loose fit section still ended up being a bit big. So, maybe sizing down to like a small would have made the perfect fit for me.
As a result of this, I had to use a belt to accentuate my waist as it appeared shapeless. Hence, for all my plus size readers, you need not worry as their sizes under loose fit section truly give way for big fittings.
In terms of length, obviously, on a short person like 5’1, it tends to be longer but normal on a 5’3 upwards. I propose Fashpa should introduce a petite line for the short people like me.
FEW THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT THE FIT
-For loose fits; small can be comfortable for UK 12 and 14 while medium can fit UK 14 and 16 comfortably. Large can give the comfortable fitting for UK 16 and 18 while Extra Large can fit UK 18 up to size 22.
-For the normal size, it is true to size.
3. The quality: It is good but the materials used aren’t consistent all the way. For instance, I purchased a shirt 3 times but in different sizes, the material used for the 3 orders was not the same thing at all!
Although I was notified the material will be changed for my second order but not for the third order which raised concerns in my mind. Despite the change and feel in materials, the quality still ended up good.
The materials used are very weather-friendly but sometimes see through, so just layer camisole underneath. The texture of the clothes had a good feel and the seams with final finishing were also good.
Therefore, in terms of quality, I give them 8/10.
4. Originality: there is nothing I enjoy than originality and uniqueness from brands. Even though the clothes designs are simple, they are unique and will be very hard to duplicate. I love the fresh approach they always use to redefine classic pieces.
5. Will I ever purchase from Fashpa again:
After all the pros and cons stated above, yes I will. And what confirmed my decision is their point systems that give DISCOUNTS!
You can get up to 5000 naira discounts on the clothes by creating an account when you make your first order. You can make up to 1000 points from your first order which can get you 5000 naira discounts with just 300 points so it is great!
The points will only start when you open an account, activate it and make your first order. Keep an eye out for the email and use the discount for the next order. If no email is sent, contact the customer service so it can be set up.
They also have a refund but not exchange policy which in my opinion is still a good thing. The refund policy gives a 7-day window for returns and if it exceeds you get a fashcredit instead of a full refund.
