4 Affordable Nigerian Modest Brands You Should know About

I am a firm believer in buy Nigerian. But there are debates when it comes to the uniqueness of their clothes especially the Nigerian Modest Brands.

The question is- Do Nigerian Modest brands have a different set of clothes apart from the normal Abaya, top and pant sets or gowns?  This discussion was raised by Maryam Salam whom is also a blogger (check out her blog HERE). I believe this post will answer this question.

In September, I went on a very much needed vacation. However, I wanted to achieve something tangible. The plan was to showcase the uniqueness and versatility of Nigerian Modest brands using my social media platforms. Reached out to four Nigerian Modest brands that have beautiful, affordable and unique pieces in which they all agreed to the collaboration!

The best part of this collaboration was styling clothes made by Nigerian Muslim ladies. A big thank you to ModestPearls, Mod.el, Spectrumbyaisha and Isharsapparel for allowing me style and show their pieces on my platform.

Now Let’s Get Styling!

ModestPearls: This purple dress got so many compliments when I showed it on my insta story (Instagram HERE). Styled it with white to make the purple stand out. What I loved about this dress was the hidden zip in the sleeves; it made it very easy to perform wudhu (ablution for prayer). Although I sent in my measurement, the fit was spot on.

Are Nigerian Modest Brands Truly All About Abayas?

The trousers material felt very lush. I loved it

Spectrumbyaisha: Ever wanted to feel like Cinderella? Then you need to know this brand. I loved that the real-life version matched the online version. Skirts are definitely not my go-to outfits; however, the fit and style of the skirt are unique. And it awakened my creative styling including topping everything off with white shoes brought the whole look together.

I love the concept and branding of Spectrumbyaisha. This is THE brand for parties, occasionwear and even casual glam!

Mod.el: This brand is no more a stranger on my blog. I have styled their maxi dresses in a post here. They sent me this black co-ord and honestly, I loved it. It was also raining compliments for this set on my insta story, even the critic- my sister, showered praises on the set. That should really tell you how amazing the set looked and feel.

For styling, I opted for an edgy look.

Isharapparel: They are also not a stranger, I have featured them in a blog post here. They sent this gorgeous lemon abaya with stones. I have to say, this choice made me very happy. The colour is out of my comfort zone, thus made it challenging to style. However, I decided to make it a colourful outfit and I must say it came out great.

So, are Nigerian Modest Brands just all about abayas? To me, NO. But most brands stock pieces that are staples like abaya because there are constant need and market for them. However, we can see most brands are breaking the norm. They are bringing out creative pieces because the market for them is growing at a rapid rate.

Also, everything boils down to personal style. If you are content with just abaya, there won’t be a need for something “different”. But for someone like me, I am always looking for something unique and different.
